This post was extracted from my early NetEase Blog archive. NetEase Blog is no longer operating, but these old words still feel interesting enough to move over mostly as they were. This is mainly for the record, and because of age the writing, images, and links may be rough.
This post was originally published on July 10, 2008. I was about 19 years old then, had graduated from high school, and was preparing to go to university.
The weather in Huainan this year has been too abnormal. The day before yesterday, the residential area of the Dianhuachang where I live actually had a "tornado." Around 7 that evening, along with an unprecedented "violent storm," the power also went out! After 8, the rain became much lighter. I went outside and could hardly believe my eyes. All the decades-old big trees along the road had fallen… quite a few utility poles had fallen too. The whole road was impassable. It felt like I had arrived in a primeval forest and had to climb over trees to reach the other side of the road… In the distance, fallen high-voltage wires were still discharging electricity and throwing off sparks… The whole place was simply like it had gone through a major disaster…
Sigh, 2008 is the Olympic year, but why have there been so many misfortunes this year???
Facing strong wind and heavy rain, what can we do?
