When Our Baby Was Born, We Felt More Like a Family

A baby is first and foremost a family matter, but it also pulls you straight into a place’s systems, rhythm, and care. The baby box, the checkups, the birth, the bill, the paperwork. Those things sound dry until you are the one moving through them.

I remember that stretch clearly because it was not only about welcoming a child. It was also the first time we could see, in a very concrete way, how Finland holds a family. Some kinds of reassurance only grow after you have lived them yourself.
